The opportunity
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Power & Energy Services team in any of our offices in Italy. In this role, you will contribute to the electrical engineering design and development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, taking ownership of defined engineering assignments and working with technical guidance from senior engineers where appropriate.
You will work closely with senior engineers, technical colleagues and specialists from other disciplines, contributing to renewable energy designs, studies, calculations, specifications and project controls. You will be expected to deliver accurate work within agreed scope, schedule and budget, raise issues proactively and provide technical direction on specific design support assignments where appropriate.
How you will make an impact
Your work will support the Power & Energy Services team and the development of renewable energy projects, helping us deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients and communities.
· Engineering assignments: Complete routine portions of electrical engineering assignments using prescribed methods, established principles and clearly defined procedures.
· Design and analysis: Support electrical designs, studies and reports; prepare process deliverables; and perform calculations, simulations and preliminary analyses for LV, MV and HV systems, grids and connections.
· Data and documentation: Compile, verify and correlate engineering data, and contribute to material requisitions, specifications and related technical documents.
· Coordination and delivery: Coordinate assigned work with other technical personnel and disciplines, managing personal workload and communicating issues that could affect scope, schedule, budget or quality.
· Project support and safe working: Assist with project controls documentation and status reporting, use engineering software as directed, follow through on commitments and apply safe working practices in office and field settings.
The team around you
You will be part of a multidisciplinary and cross-national Power & Energy Services team, working across utility-scale renewable energy projects and electrical engineering disciplines and supported by WSP’s wider technical and professional network.
The culture: Collaborative, multidisciplinary and focused on learning through guidance, coaching and constructive feedback.
The projects: Utility-scale renewable energy developments requiring electrical design, grid connection and technical documentation.
The opportunity: Build technical confidence, deepen your renewable energy expertise and collaborate on global projects, with travel opportunities where relevant.
What you will bring to the role
We focus on the essential qualifications, skills and experience needed for success, while welcoming different technical backgrounds and career paths.
· A degree in electrical engineering or energy engineering.
· At least two years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, ideally supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects.
· Knowledge of utility-scale renewable plant operation and equipment; Italian grid connection requirements, including CEI 0-16 and the Terna Grid Code; LV, MV and HV electrical design, grids and connections; single-line diagrams; electrical calculations; and the principles of Energy Yield Assessments. Experience sizing underground or overhead MV/HV lines is preferred.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Excel and Microsoft Office, plus experience with Ampere or similar electrical calculation software and DIgSILENT or similar power-system analysis software.
· A collaborative and reliable working style, accuracy in calculations and data, clear written communication, willingness to learn from coaching and feedback, and the ability to manage multiple commitments within agreed scope, schedule and budget.
· Professional proficiency in both Italian and English languages.
You will bring established technical knowledge and relevant project experience, taking ownership of defined engineering activities while continuing to develop your expertise. You will collaborate across disciplines, contribute to quality deliverables and receive technical guidance from senior engineers where appropriate.
