WSP’s Ankara Office is currently seeking a Geological or Civil Engineer for a Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Engineer role on mining projects across Türkiye. The successful candidate will join our Mining & Earth Sciences Services Team and contribute to projects within a growing, multidisciplinary organization.
THE ROLE:
The CQA Engineer will provide on-site construction monitoring to ensure contractor activities are carried out in accordance with approved design drawings, technical specifications, and applicable standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Earthworks: Monitoring excavation works, engineered fill placement, and production of various fill materials
Liner and Piping Works: Oversight of geosynthetics installation and quality control testing (geomembranes, GCLs, geotextiles, geonets, etc.) and monitoring installation of HDPE and corrugated piping systems
Concrete Works: Monitoring concrete placement and associated quality control activities
Conducting QA/QC soil and concrete field and laboratory testing, including in-situ moisture and density testing using a nuclear gauge
Assisting with the review, compilation, and maintenance of project record documentation
Preparing accurate, clear, and timely daily and weekly construction summary reports
Interacting constructively and professionally with contractors and project owners to resolve construction-related issues
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong safety-first culture and awareness
Commitment to ethical conduct, professional integrity, and compliance with WSP’s standards and values
Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering
1–5 years of relevant experience, preferably including SYDF (Su Yapıları Denetim Firması) experience, in tasks similar to those listed above
Experience on mining projects, including tailings storage facilities (TSFs), heap leach facilities (HLFs), or other mine-related infrastructure, is an asset
Familiarity with international standards and guidelines (e.g., ASTM, ISO, GISTM) related to earthworks, geosynthetics, and CQA is an asset
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong technical interpretation, writing, and reporting skills
High level of attention to detail, particularly in construction monitoring, testing, and documentation
Ability to adapt to changing site conditions
Willingness to learn and develop professionally
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team
Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions
Strong organizational and time management skills
Minimum 2 years of driving experience with a valid Class B driving license
SRC Certificate is an asset
Willingness to travel and work on site
Availability to work night shifts, when required
