Senior Social Impact Consultant - Sustainability Services – Turin or Milan

WSP has a new opportunity for a Senior Social Impact Consultant to join our Sustainability Services team on a full-time contract basis based in Turin or Milan. The successful candidate will work as part of our multi-discipline and cross-national team with a leading role in assessing, reviewing, and monitoring social aspects of projects in the energy, mining, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
WHAT DOES THIS PROJECT MANAGER ROLE INCLUDE?
- Be responsible for social-related components of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) including social studies and social impact management (e.g., social surveys planning and execution; social baseline investigations; social and human rights impact assessment; Stakeholder Engagement, Land Acquisition and Restoration and Resettlement planning and execution, etc.).
- Act as specialist on Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and post-finance monitoring for energy, mining, industry and infrastructure projects, including identifying risks and impacts, reviewing compliance with project’s commitments, and applicable international requirements.
- Attend as senior expert or team leader social surveys, due diligences and audit visits to projects and associated reporting.
- Attend working and organizational meetings, prepare project and contract management documentation, identify project’s opportunities, and prepare (or contribute to) technical and financial proposals.
- Develop social report and surveys templates, work on internal procedures and methods to develop and improve social methodologies.
REQUIREMENTS WE REQUIRE:
- Degree in socio-economic sciences, international and diplomatic sciences, anthropology or equivalent.
- Working experience and knowledge of IFC/EBRD/AfDB/OECD/Equator Principles and other international environmental and social standards. Familiarity with social assessment and management standards (ILO Conventions, Human rights, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of environmental and social management systems, related social issues and practical experience in projects seeking for financing and related phases prior and post financial close. Specific training and work experience at international level is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience is required for the position. Consultancy, contracting and/or direct operational experience in developing countries would be advantageous.
- Experience and ability to work on several projects simultaneously under time pressure.
- Excellent English (both written and spoken) is a must. Documented knowledge and ability to work in French is highly desired and a plus.
- Willingness to travel on short term visits worldwide.
